Hikmet Kerem Özcan is a writer-director born in İzmir in 1991, based in Istanbul.
He studied screenwriting and directing at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Turkey's oldest fine arts institution, founded in 1882, where he made a series of award-winning short films.
His debut feature Hakkı (2024) screened at the Vancouver, Santa Barbara, Shanghai and Oldenburg film festivals, won the Audience Award and FİLM-YÖN Best Director at the Adana Golden Boll Film Festival, and streams on MUBI.
His second feature, Surface Tension, is in development and has been selected for the MIA 2026 Film Co-Production Market.
